Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee
September 8th, 2009Amazing! Those Ragga beats remind me of Jean Pierre Rampal’s collaboration with Ravi Shankar in “Morning Love”. Stunning. Listen on Spotify.
He is coming to Southbank Centre on Friday 25 Sept (Purcell Room).
Check this out for a warm up!
Aldeburgh
September 6th, 2009Just spent a lovely weekend in Aldeburgh. Fresh air, organic food and swimming in the sea. There’s something about the moon off that coast…
Very close is the Snape Maltings Concert Hall.
Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf was a theme of the weekend. Listen on Spotify.
Clangers
August 30th, 2009On YouTube, looking at old childrens’ tv programmes, among them the ‘Clangers’. The music caught my attention, being described as having “Debussian strains, with gentle harp and flute exchanges. Read more about the “Clanger Ensemble” on the wikipedia page. I started to look around the ‘net for a score of the music and stumbled upon Abigail Burrow’s website (I think Swarovski will encrust anything). Apparently, she did a concert at Southbank Centre on July 20th 2009, titled ‘Music of the Clangers’. Is that the same clangers? Songkick has a record of the night, but no-one has left any comments. I’ll leave you with a picture of Major Clanger…

Favourite artists
August 30th, 2009I’m going to put together a list of my favourite artists. Be grateful if you share your faves, too!
I saw Francesa Canali at the Wigmore last year and found an album on iTunes the other day. Listen to the album on Spotify. I think she plays a gold flute. Anyone know what kind?
0s and 1s
August 27th, 2009Heard about the 0s and 1s they discovered on a carving in Stirling Castle? See the BBC site:
